Biography:

Franjo Janeš was born 1982 in Zagreb, where he earned a degree in German and English language and literature. In 2004/2005 the DAAD awarded him a semester scholarship at the University of Würzburg (Germany). In 2007 he was employed as a junior researcher at the Department of German language at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. In 2011 he earned a PhD in linguistics with the dissertation titled “Comparison of lexical and pragmatic particularities of Croatian and German youth language”. He has published the novels „Noć mrtvih živaca“ (Kiklop literature prize 2009), „Formula za kaos“ (SFera literature prize 2012) and „Čerupanje feniksa“. He plays the guitar and sings in the band Astridian.



Research interests: 

sociolinguistics, grammar, rhetoric
