Course description: This course offers a comparative overview of historical, cultural-historical, literary-historical and some methodological aspects of Croatian – German literary contacts.

Learning outcomes: Students will be able to: describe development of historical circumstances of German – Croatian literary contacts, explain the concepts of nation and national literature as historical phenomena, recognise essentialist and relativist concepts of culture, name and define basic concepts of literary contacts (intertextuality, development, cultural transfer); analyse selected phenomena (case studies) regarding the theory of cultural transfer.

Teaching methods: direct instructions, teaching through lectures, presentations, student presentations, classroom discussion
