Research and Training Centre for HR & DC is implementing an experiemental University Curriculum for Human Rights and Democratic Citizenship from November 24. 2005 to February 10 2006, for students of final year of B.A. studies, graduate students and those having a B.A. from teacher-training faculties of the University of Zagreb

The UN General Asembly at its 59. session in December 2004 adopted the World Programme for Human Rights Education, as a follow-up to the Decade for Human Rights Education. The first phase of the World Programme is scheduled for 2005-2007, with a focus on primary and secondary school systems. The Office of theUN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is coordinating activities within the framework of the World Programme.

The National Programme of Human Rights Education, drafted under the auspices of the National Committee for Human Rights Education, is the national conceptual framework for implementation of the objectives of the UN Decade for Human Rights Education. It outlines the policy of education for human rights and democratic citizenship in the Croatian context. In 1999 the four subprogrammes were published as the first part of the National Programme, covering pre-school, lower and upper grades of primary, and secondary school. University, adult and media education are in draft.
