ISIP -
International Permanent Exhibition of
Publications, Zagreb, Croatia, is a unique exhibiting
institution, aimed at presenting and promoting
literature from all areas of human knowledge and
activities. Since its establishment in 1951, ISIP
has obtained, processed, and exhibited more than
232,000 books and 10,000 titles of periodicals,
providing permanent access to the sources of
relevant information for scientists,
professionals, and student alike.
The exhibiting collection of ISIP is furnished
with books and journals sent by publishers from
some 40 countries. Publishers send their books
and journals on the free-of-charge basis, whereas
ISIP bears all the expenses
regarding the processing and exhibiting of
publications.

ISIP's permanent
exhibition (displaying more than 46,000
books and 800 titles of journals) and
its main reading premises are located on the 1st
floor of the National and University
Library in Zagreb. In addition to the permanent exhibit,
particularly interesting for Croatian and foreign
users are ISIP's thematic exhibitions, dedicated
to specific topics and accompanying various
international conferences held in Croatia.
Dissemination of information about ISIP's
collection is done by way of (a) online access to
ISIP's bibliographic databases, and (b) ISIP's
printed exhibition catalogues, offered to
visitors of thematic exhibitions.
Within the framework of the Third International
Conference on Conceptions of Library and
Information Science (CoLIS 3), to be held in
Dubrovnik, Croatia, 23 - 26 May 1999, ISIP will
be presenting a selection of books and journals
from the fields of library and information
science.
